Stay Informed and Focused: A Guide to Using Your Vehicle's Head-Up Display

The available head-up display (HUD) shows key information right on your windshield, allowing you to stay focused on the road. This display projects data from a small lens in the dashboard onto the windshield in front of you. You can tell if your vehicle is equipped with a HUD by looking for “HUD” controls located either to the left or right of the steering wheel.

In vehicles equipped with this feature, the head-up display can show useful information like your speed, important warnings, performance stats, navigation details, and connected phone updates. You can customize the display mode by pressing the info button and cycling through one of the following options:

  • Speed View: Shows your current speed, speed limit, and, if applicable, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings, and a vehicle-ahead indicator.
  • Phone View: In addition to everything in Speed View, this mode displays radio stations, media info, and incoming calls.
  • Navigation View: This includes all the details from Speed View, plus turn-by-turn navigation or, if navigation isn’t active, a compass heading.

Adjusting the Head-Up Display

To fine-tune the HUD’s height, use the up/down arrows or height adjustment controls, ensuring your seat is set at the right height beforehand. You can also adjust the display’s brightness using the dimming controls. While the brightness adjusts automatically, you can set it to the lowest comfortable level for optimal visibility.

Maintaining the HUD

To keep your HUD clear, regularly clean the lens on top of the dashboard with a soft cloth, ensuring no obstructions block the projection. For the best view of the road, set the display as low as possible while keeping the information visible.

With the head-up display, you can stay informed without ever taking your eyes off the road.
