Flat-Plane Crank

A flat-plane crankshaft allows balanced bank to bank air flow and provides low rotational inertia. Lightweight forged titanium connecting rods, and low-profile forged pistons allow rapid RPM changes as well as high engine speeds.

DOHC Valvetrain

Titanium intake valves with dual valve springs enable precise valvetrain control at high engine speeds, providing optimal track performance.

Cylinder Heads

Intake and exhaust ports as well as combustion chambers have been CNC modified for improved airflow, giving Z06 race car control for engine breathing and combustion.

LT2 V8 Engine

With 495 horsepower and 470 lb.‑ft. of torque, this 6.2L small block powerhouse is designed to thrill on every drive, on both road and track, and contributes to an overall 655 horsepower.¹ It features eight equal‑length intake runners of 210 mm to maximize torque and airflow. A dry‑sump oil scavenge system uses three pumps to ensure oil quality and flow to critical areas during high g‑force cornering and acceleration.

495 horsepower from 6.2L LT2 V8 engine plus the 160 horsepower from the e‑AWD (electric drive unit).

8-Speed Transmission

The standard 8‑speed dual‑clutch transmission combines the smoothness of an automatic with the control of a manual, giving you high efficiency, lightning‑quick shifts and shorter lap times. A variable Drive Style Index senses your driver inputs and responds with gear holds and downshifts exactly when you expect them.

Battery

A 1.9 kWh lithium‑ion battery electrifies Corvette for the first time, powering the electric drive unit that powers the front wheels. The battery is self‑charging, picking up energy as you go, letting you focus on the drive. The E‑Ray battery system includes an integrated power electronics system designed for maximum responsiveness, efficiency and performance, all in support of a 0.5-second improvement in 0‑96 km/h time.

Electric Drive Unit

With a rated output of 160 horsepower, the electrified motor powering the front axle along with the LT2 V8 engine provides an incredible 655 combined horsepower. And, while the LT2 V8 engine provides 470 lb.‑ft. of torque to the rear wheels, the electric motor adds an additional 125 lb.‑ft. of torque to the front wheels. The result is truly impressive acceleration, whether off the line, exiting corners or during passing manoeuvres. In addition, the system offers limited EV‑only drive modes to allow you to move your car or exit your neighbourhood in stealthy fashion.

Elevating the mid‑engine platform with e‑AWD assist takes the E‑Ray to a whole new level. Not only does this bring a huge leap in 4‑season capability, the intelligent controls dynamically adjust in real time to provide front axle assist for ultimate stability and balance - providing nimble control.

Intake

Completely unique to the LT7 engine, the Edge Blue Intake System brings air from the charge air coolers into the engine's intake manifold, where it's mixed with fuel from two systems: Port and Direct Injection (PDI). The cool air and fuel mixture are then sent into the combustion chambers, where it ignites and drives the never-ending torque. Prepare for takeoff.

Heads and Valve Train

The goal was to take power and performance to the next level. That goal was achieved with the LT7 engine. A unique cylinder head casting with updated combustion chambers works seamlessly with the intake system to help increase airflow and reduce compression ratio, while the exhaust port enables an optimized turbo charging system. The valve train was refined for boosted performance to bring the powerful output you expect. This is more than an engine. This is a system that knows the difference between just moving and making power moves.

Crank Train

The crank train supports extreme force as it converts pressure into torque and horsepower. The crankshaft is the backbone that holds it all together, allowing seamless interaction with other engine parts, such as the stronger forged pistons. The wrist pin is bigger and thicker with stronger forged titanium rods. The piston converts the energy released during combustion into mechanical work as it reacts against the titanium rod. Every part has a purpose because when it comes to achieving power, it doesn’t happen alone.

Twin Turbochargers

How do you make power even more powerful? ZR1 engineers were tasked with that mission. Charge air coolers paired with dual mono-scroll, ball-bearing turbos work together to deliver unrelenting power, along with integrated exhaust manifold turbos to provide the quick responsiveness you expect. Electronically controlled waste gates combined with other engine controls virtually eliminating turbo lag – especially during more dynamic driving situations. To sum it up, you get more power in less time and massive torque out of the gate. Mission accomplished.
